IW District Level Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament begins

IMPHAL, May 8 : NAIMS English Academy, Helping Hands Group Academy and Nilamani English School reached U-14 boys quarter finals as the Imphal West District Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament kicks off today at Main Stadium Khuman Lampak under the supervision of District Youth Affairs and Sports Office, Imphal.
In the opening match of the U-14 boys competition, NAIMS Eng Academy beat Thambaleima High School 4-3 via penalty after neither team found the target during regulation time. NAIMS will play Little Rose in the quarter final match tomorrow.
In the second match, Anilkumar (18') and S Sanathoi (29') scored on either side of the half to hand Helping Hands Group Academy a 2-0 win over CT Hr Secondary School and set up a quarter final date with Usha Bhavan.
Later in the third match of the 11 team knock-out competition, Nilamani English School knocked out Anganghal English High School with a 9-2 thrashing to set up a quarter final clash with Little Master Eng Higher Secondary School tomorrow.
Meanwhile in the 10-team U-17 boys knockout competition, Nilamani Eng School and Thambaleima High School secured wins to progress into the quarter finals.
In the opening match of the tournament, Nilamani English School beat NAIMS Eng Academy 5-3 on penalties after playing out a 1-1 draw during regulation time. Nilamani English School will lock horns with Kanan Devi Memorial School in the quarter final match on May 10.
Later in another match, Thambaleima High School rode on L Swami strike to seal a slender 1-0 win over  Nirmala Rani High School and set up a quarter final date with Helping Hands Group Academy on May 10.
