Fears of 4th wave increase

New Delhi, Jun 9 : Amid fears of a fourth wave of COVID-19, India recorded 7,240 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.
The active cases rose to 28,857, while the active cases stand at 0.08 per cent of the total infections, the latest data of the Health Ministry stated.
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed that 3,591 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours, taking the total the recoveries to 4,26,40,301. The National COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.71 per cent, the Ministry said. Daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.13 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.31 per cent. According to the Health Ministry, 85.38 crore Covid tests have been conducted so far, out of which 3,40,615 tests were done in the last 24 hours.
India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 194.59 crore (1,94,59,81,691). So far, more than 3.47 crore (3,47,98,758) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
