ANSAM Martyrs' Trophy: Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong drub AISU 6-0 to set up quarter final date with LNKR

IMPHAL, Jun 16 : The last-8 stage of the 1st ANSAM Martyrs' Trophy Football Tournament organised by the All Naga Students' Association, Manipur in collaboration with Naga Students' Union Chandel and DSA, Chandel at Sports Complex, Chandel Christian was completed today.
In the fourth Pool A match of the tournament Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) brushed aside All Inpui Students' Union (AISU) 6-0 to set up a last 8 round date with Liangmei Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR) who outlasted Theemjih Ten Tarao Ruulkhat 3-1 in the third Pool A match yesterday.
Yami Longvah (19', 40') and Reimingam Muinao (35', 56') scored two goals each for TKS who took a comfortable 2-0 first half lead in the highly lopsided encounter while Tangva Ragui (49') and Chanso Horam (51') netted a goal apiece.
In the Pool B opener Lamkang Kurhcuknao Kunpun (LKK) edged Maralui Karalimei Swijoikang (MKS) 6-5 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in the regulation time to secure a place in the last 8 stage.
Renghong scored a brace (14', 18') and Armstrong added once (20') for LKK as Emmanuel (31'), Lungshiba (36') and Doibiba (46') scored a goal apiece for MKS.
In the penalty shoot-out after the two sides failed to break the deadlock, Mokham, Alex, Wangnong, Renghong, Rilsangam and Bungpem all found the target for LKK while only Emmanuel, Sailas, Alfred, Nepolean and Joseph beat the LKK custodian.
MKS will play Thiimziih Teen Bujuur Ruwkheh (TTBR) who thumped Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation, Manipur (RNSOM) 2-0 in the second Pool B match staged later.
The goals for TTBR were scored by Deenpar (11') and Cleaverson (35') respectively.
Later in the 7th match and 3rd Pool B encounter,Chothe Athourul Ngei Abom (CANA) edged out Mao Students' Union (MSU) 2-1 courtesy Y Sonam brace (32', 47').
The lone goal for MSU was scored by Lorhii in the 60th minute.
Elsewhere in the last Pool B league match of the day, Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe (STS) overcame normal time blushes to beat Thangal Anleinao Jonlang 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 stalemate in the regulation time.
Rangpong was able to give Thangal AJ the headway in the 52nd minute after a goalless first half but conceded the lead with an own goal two minutes latter via Marconi.
It gave STS a chance to redeem themselves and even as they were unable to score any goal in the regulation time, Sh Alfred, Ng David, Sh Sepbergam and W Strongam managed to convert from the spot in the shoot-out to ensure a 5-4 finish as only Biki, Tilui and Guiyo found the target for the losing side.
