Itocha penalty fires UVSA into Sangai Trophy final

IMPHAL, Jun 16 : UVSA, Lilong Chajing beat SVA, Khongjom Keirak 1-0 to set up 4th Sangai Trophy final date with FC Imphal who registered a similar win yesterday at the Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong. The final is scheduled on June 19 at 2.30 pm.
It was a tight affair for both the sides as final berth was on the line but N Itocha penalty at the stroke of the half hour mark was more than enough for UVSA to seal their place in the final. The match actually didn't end normally as a protest erupted against a referee decision following a foul by an UVSA defender inside the penalty area. Uneasy situation was prevailing following the referee's decision to award UVSA a penalty a few minutes earlier in consultation with assistant referee-2 in a similar circumstance. The assistant referee, after the SVA protest (first), was changed and the match resumed.
SVA however walked off the field in the following event citing "impartial judgement" for not awarding them a penalty for the foul by an UVSA defender.
