Ukhrul girls to represent India at the 54th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports C'ship

Ukhrul, Jun 20 : Solimla Jajo and Solan Jajo from Ukhrul district are set to represent India at the 54th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championship-2022 to be held from July 15 to 21 in Maldives.
The Body Builder's Association of Ukhrul District (BBAUD) on Monday hosted a felicitation cum blessing programme for the two girls on being qualified for the international fitness competition.
Solimla Jajo (17) from Kasom Khullen will participate in 165 cm Senior Model Physique competition while Solan Jajo who hails from Leishi Village will be competing in 160 cm Senior Model Physique event.
Both the women athletes are trainees of Royal gymnasium, Ukhrul since 2021.
According to their reports, seven individuals including Solimla and Solan will represent team India at 54th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championship-2022.
Dr Wisdom, president BBAUD while speaking at the felicitation programme, highlighted the achievements of the association.
Since 2016, 61 athletes of the district unit have participated in 7 international, 12 National and numerous state level competitions and 42 have done district association proud by winning medals in State level events, he said.
He further mentioned that both Solimla Jajo and Solan Jajo,  apart from Asian championship, are set to represent India in the Miss World contest to be held in Thailand this year.
Meanwhile Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) president and chief guest of the programme David K Shimray lauded the girls over their selection in the Indian team for the Asian event and further assured to extend support to the girls.
By qualifying for the international competition, Solimla and Solan have brought joy among the Tangkhul community and made the Jajo clan proud, he said while extending his best wishes to the girls to bring laurels to the country and the State.
Robert Meitei who is the instructor of Royal Gymnasium, Ukhrul and also an advisor of BBAUD, stated that Ukhrul is the best performing district among hill districts although it was established in 2014.
He also praised Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul Krishna Kumar for his assurance to sponsor the travelling cost of  upto 2 lakh from his end as an encouragement to the young athletes.
The programme also saw Rev Somi Kasomwoshi, Pastor of Ukhrul town Baptist Church (UTBC) , pronounce blessing prayers for Solimla and Solan along with their parents.
