MOA gears up for Olympic Day celebration

IMPHAL, Jun 21 : As organised every year, the Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) is set to organise "Olympic Day Run" on June 23 as a part of the Olympic Day celebration.
The run which is expected to be participate by around 1500 athletes drawn from Olympians, National and International level athletes, and inmates and officials of SAI NERC, SAI SAG, National Sports Academy, National Sports Universities and other sports associations will be flagged off from the courtyard of the Olympic Bhavan or Shanglen, Khuman Lampak, said MOA in a press release.
The run will be formally flagged off by Chief Minister N Biren at 7.30 am, it said.
MOA president and Heirok AC MLA, Th Radheshyam; Manipur Basketball Association president and Keishamthong AC MLA, Nishikant Sapam and All Manipur Mukna Association president and Wangkhei AC MLA, Th Arunkumar are also going to preside the function, it added.
It may be noted that Olympic Day is a celebration of sport, health, and being together and commemorates the day the International Olympic Committee was founded at the Sorbonne in Paris by Pierre de Coubertin on 23 June 1894. This year, the day is going to be celebrated with the theme "Together, For a Peaceful World".
