District Adm Bpr to utilize PM's Award for excellence in PA as "District Sports Development Fund"

The District Administration Bishnupur has decided to utilize the prize money amounting to Rs 20,00,000 (rupees twenty lakh only) received under the Prime Minister's Award for excellence in Public Administration (PA), 2021 as District Sports Development Fund for the development/welfare of sports and athletes in the district.
Also, any contribution from an individual/ organisation / institution shall be deposited in the fund. The total fund is deposited at ICICI Bank (Account no 431801000498, IFSC Code: ICIC0004318), Singjamei Branch. The same bank account will be a joint account with the Deputy Commissioner/ Chairman DLEC and DYASO/ Member Secretary DLEC Bishnupur as joint signatories, said DC Bishnupur district in an office memorandum.
The purpose of creation of the fund is to impart momentum and flexibility to assisting the cause of sports, and it will help sportspersons excel by providing them a gap filling fund for travelling for participation in National, international competitions of Olympic sports discipline.
The fund will also provide financial assistance for prize money of district/block level competitions upto a maximum of Rs. 50,000 to regular performing district level clubs and organizations.
Role of the fund is supplementary to the various support/funding given by the State and Central Government. Also, the main objective is to offer financial support and encouragement to the sports star in the district. This tiny token of encouragement will push the athletes/sportspersons towards better performance in the future, the memorandum read.
Eligible Criteria
a. The applicant must be resident of the Bishnupur District, Manipur
b. The applicant must belong to BPL family or is an orphan.
c. For competition, organiser must be registered in Bishnupur District, Manipur and competition must be district level/block level.
Application and Approval process
The applicant must submit the application addressed to: "The Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate/ Chairman DLEC, Bishnupur District, Manipur" with subject and along with domicile, photocopy of the Aadhaar card, AAY card and necessary documents for application.
Approval will be done by the Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate/ Chairman DLEC, Bishnupur District, Manipur on the verification and recommendation of the District Youth Affairs and Sports Officer (DYASO), Bishnupur, the memorandum continued.
