Meiraba settles for bronze at Nantes International Challenge

IMPHAL, Jun 27 : Manipur's ace shuttler Maisnam Meiraba Luwang has settled for a bronze medal at the Nantes International Challenge 2022 which was held from June 23 to 26 at Reze, France.
Meiraba had to contend with the bronze medal after a 21-19, 15-21, 20-22 loss to France's Christo Popov in the men's singles semi-final on June 25.
Earlier, in the first round, Meiraba defeated Tobiash Kuenzi of Switzerland 21-13, 21-19 and eased 21-14, 21-16 past Chia Hao Lee of Chinese Taipei to confirm his place in the quarter final.
In the quarter final he knocked out Olympian Misha Zilberman of Israel who was seeded no 1 by 21-12, 21-17 points and set up a semi-final date with Christo Popov.
Denmark's Mads Christophersen emerged champion in the competition with a 21-11, 11-21, 21-14 win over Christo Popov in the final.
Meiraba has earned 2800 BWF ranking points from this tournament which was organised by the France Badminton Federation under the supervision of Badminton World Federation and Europe Badminton.
