IMPHAL, Jun 28 : Utlou High School, Bishnupur; Heirok Higher Secondary School, Thoubal and St Peter's Hr Secondary School, Chandel all secured convincing wins today at Langjing Turf in the State Level Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament for U-14 boys to top their respective group and qualify for semis.
In the penultimate group A league match, Thoubal team blanked RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya, Jiribam 4-0 to top the league table. Thoubal players who have beaten Churachandpur team 7-0 and demolished Noney team 13-0 in the previous matches, took 2-0 first half lead before completing the 4-0 rout today.
L Boynao opened the scoring early in the fifth minute today before L Bikramjit converted a penalty kick to make it 2-0 after 15 minutes.
L Boynao rose again to complete his double in the 35th minute before L Belot took honour to seal the game 4-0 with a clinical finish in the 40th minute of the match.
In a Group D encounter, Bishnupur drubbed Kamjong district team represented by Kamjong High School 5-0 as O Abinash scored a second half brace (32', 35') after the team took a 3-0 first half lead.
It was G Bidyananda who opened the floodgate early in the 4th minute before K Roshan and Kh Alex netted a goal apiece in the 5th and 18th minutes.
Eventually, the Bishnupur team entered the semi-finals as Group winners.
In another one sided match, St Peter's Hr Secondary School rode on Sankhil Blesson treble to rout Sanatombi High School, Kakching 6-0.
The Chandel team took a 2-0 first half lead as Sankhil Blesson netted twice in the 7th and the 13th minute respectively.
Thanks to two wins and a draw, the Chandel school emerged Group A winners and will play Thoubal team in the semi-final match tomorrow.
After the restart, Wangler Beshorjit struck home Chandel team's third in the 28th minute before Dilbung Rengsingam quick fired two goals back to back in the 32nd and the 37th minutes to make it 5-0 before Sankhil sealed the deal in the 50th minute with his third strike.
In an inconsequential Group B match staged later in the day, Kinship High School, Churachandpur blanked Domin English School 6-0 to cap their campaign on a high.
Henmaivi (1', 15') and Janglenmang (36', 40') scored two goals each in this lopsided encounter while Mangjinsai (12') and Satminlun (31') netted a goal apiece.
U-17 Boys Tournament
Kinship High School Churachandpur banked on goals from Ngamtinsei (29') and Yangkhongam (37') to beat RK Sanatombi School, Jiribam 2-0 and enter semi-finals as Group C winners.
In another Group C league match, New Era English School, Imphal East played out a 2-2 draw with St Peter's Hr Secondary School.
U Robert scored both the goals (42', 47') to help the Imphal East school salvage a 2-2 draw after W Strongam (30') and K Alex (38') had given Chandel team the lead.
Meanwhile, Education Training School, Kangpokpi emerged Group D winners after a comfortable 2-0 win over TG English School, Bishnupur.
The two sides put in conscious effort as the winners would directly enter semi-finals and after a barren first half, Paominlun broke the deadlock in the 38th minute to hand the Kangpokpi side the headway before Kailenmoi scored the decisive goal in the 52nd minute.
In a Group B dead rubber match, Kamjong Hr Secondary School edged 3-2 past Beream Baptist Academy, Noney as Mungachan (41'), Songayam (49') and Leimaya (59') were on target.
Meanwhile the goals for the Noney school were scored by Ethane (36') and Gaisingam (56').
In another dead rubber Group D league match, Suanthianlal (27') goal helped Bukpi Govt High School, Pherzawl beat Wabagai Hr Secondary School 1-0.
