Army aspirants rally against Agnipath

IMPHAL, Jun 29 : The Agnipath row sort of arrived at Manipur as a group of Indian Army aspirants took out a protest rally against the 'cancellation' of  Indian Army Common Entrance Exam 2021 at Nityaipat Chuthek, today.
Notably, a large number of Indian Army aspirants and political parties have been staging a widespread protest against the move of the Centre to recruit youth in Indian Armed Forces for four years through Agnipath scheme in different parts of the country.
During the demonstration staged in front of the BJP State unit office at Nityaipat Chuthek, the protesters held placards with inscriptions such as "We condemn  cancellation of Common Entrance Exam," "Save youth" and "Conduct  Common Entrance Exam" among others.
Speaking to media persons, one of the Army aspirants stated that they couldn't accept the cancellation of the entrance exam after the completion of physical, medical  and police verification processes to join the Indian Army.
Saying that they have been advised to join the Indian Army through the Agnipath scheme instead, he added that the group of aspirants will not accept the move as almost 90 per cent of the recruitment processes have already been completed.
Further stating that one aspirant had committed suicide in Odisha over the cancellation of the exam, he urged the Government to not cancel the Indian Army Common Entrance Exam 2021 in the larger interest of the aspirants who have cleared almost 90 per cent of the recruitment exam.
