'Eat Right Walkathon and Eat Right Mela' held at Imphal East

IMPHAL, Jun 29: 'Eat Right Walkathon and Eat Right Mela' was organised today by Food Safety Administration, Imphal East under the sponsorship of  the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI).
The walkathon which was held under the theme 'Eat Safe, Eat Healthy and Eat Sustainable' was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East, Kh Diana Devi from the office complex of CMO, Imphal East.
Director of Health Services, Dr K Rajo, Imphal East SP, M Pradip, CMO Imphal East, Dr L Indira, school and nursing students, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, members of Food Business Operator took part in the walkathon.
Addressing media persons before the walkathon, Dr K Rajo said that non-communicable diseases are caused by eating unhealthy foods such as junk food.
Highlighting the importance of maintaining a proper diet to lead a healthy lifestyle, he appealed to all to eat nutritious food and take out time to exercise.
Speaking at the occasion, Kh Diana said that the walkathon and mela are organised for Imphal East district as a part of Eat Right Challenge which is being held across the country.
She further informed that the event has been organised to spread awareness among the masses on the importance of eating healthy and nutritious food.
The walkathon passed through Khurai Lamlong Keithel and culminated at Soibam Leikai community hall where the Eat Right Mela was conducted.
Cultural show, zumba dance, Yoga, talk and panel discussion and painting and quiz competition for school students were the main highlights of the mela.
