Four including woman held with drugs

IMPHAL, Jun 30 : Three drug peddlers including a woman were arrested by a team of Kakching commandos along with 55 soap cases containing 689 grams of heroin (No 4) from Laimanai Ching commando outpost today.
Briefing media persons at his office, Kakching SP Shrey Vats said that Kakching district commandos, acting on specific information about illegal transportation of banned drugs items along Imphal-Moreh road, carried out a frisking and checking exercise at Laimanai Chingjin commando outpost.
During the exercise, one Maruti van coming from Pallel toward Laimanai Chingjin was detained for checking and on verification at around 11.30 am, 55 soap cases containing 689 grams of heroin were found concealed in the fuel tank of the vehicle which had been modified.
The driver and the occupants of the vehicle identified as Paominlal Misao (20) s/o Thangjang Misao of T Tonglhang, of Khudengthabi village, Tengnoupal district, Lhunkhopao Baite (33) s/o Tongkhoson Baite of Moreh, H Wanomjang village, Tengnoupal district and Lamkholhing (61) w/o Onkhongam of HT Gamnomphai village, Moreh, Tengnoupal district were arrested.
The arrested persons along with the seized drug have been handed over to  Kakching police station for taking up necessary legal action, said the SP.
Meanwhile, Imphal East district police seized large quantities of cough syrups and tablets today.
Acting on a specific tip off, teams of Imphal East district police conducted a search operation at the house of Md Boi (28) s/o Md Amu of Naharup Pangong Makhong, Imphal East at around 1 pm today.
In the course of the search operation, 4440 bottles of Anrex CP codeine cough syrup, 3700 bottles of Rukscof codeine cough syrup and 2,60,064 Span-Prx+ capsules were recovered from the house of Md Boi.
The seized drugs is worth about Rs 42,28,640.
Md Boi was arrested and one mobile phone was also recovered from his possession.
He was later handed over to Irilbung police station along with the seized items.
