5 a-side football tourney for boys begins

IMPHAL, Jun 30 : The 1st Basanta Kumar Memorial 5 A-Side  (35 kg) Football Tournament began today at Chingaral Tezpur, today. The tournament being organised by Poloi Group will see 16 teams clubbed into four groups compete for the title.
In the opening match which was staged for Group-A, HIYAI FA (A) trounched Nganba FC (B) 6-3 as Deepak of the winning side netted three goals (29', 37' and 42')  while his compatriots - Lumikanta (1'), Somendro (39') and Musha (40)' scored one goal each.
All the three goals of Nganba FC were scored by Bobosana. The second match saw ESU, Wangkhei securing an easy 4-0 win over YMC Haraorou in the Group-B clash as Md Asif of ESU struck three consecutive goals in the 20th, 28th and 40th minute while his team-mate L Jetly  netted one in the 18th minute.
