International Day of Cooperatives observed

Thoubal, Jul 2 : The Oriental Women's Cooperative Society Limited in association with Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited and NCUI-Cooperative Education Field Project, Thoubal observed the 100th International Day of Cooperatives under the theme, "Cooperatives build an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and a better World" at Kshetri Sanglen, Thoubal.
The programme conducted as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsave was attended by Imphal East, District Cooperative Officer, Sarungbam Mahendra Singh; NCUI New Delhi, Governing Council member & Project Coordination Committee Manipur chairperson, Jeena Potsangbam; Manipur Cooperative Societies, Assistant Registrar (audit), Ak Sushila Devi; KVK Thoubal, Agronomy Subject Matter Specialist (SMS), N Tomba Singh; IFFCO Field Officer, Saikot Das and NCUI-Project Thoubal, project officer, Th Pahari Singh as presidium members.
Earlier, the dignitaries also inaugurated an office of Oriental Women's Cooperative Society Limited located opposite to Kshetri Sanglen.
Speaking on the occasion, Jeena Potsangbam extended his appreciation to the people gathered for the event and IFFCO for making the event a success.
She expressed hope that with the observation of the 100th International Day of Cooperatives, all the Cooperatives would move forward towards a better future.
She also annouced that a similar event would be held at New Delhi on July 4.
Highlighting the schemes and projects initiated by the Central Government for the welfare of farmers, she stated that the country would not progress without first improving the agriculture sector.
Jeena Potsangbam further appealed to the public to provide their cooperation and support in bringing development and prosperity in the State.
