State Vovinam players return to warm reception

IMP/Tbl, Sep 28 : State vovinam players were accorded warm reception today at Thongju,  Langol  (Tengnoupal dist) and Tekcham as they returned home with the overall team title of the 11th National Vovinam Championship.
The championship was held from September 22 to 25 at  KD Singh Babu Stadium in Hazratgani, Lucknow and Manipur returned home with a rich medal haul of 25 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze.
Sukham Beauly (Bembroo) who won a gold medal in the junior girls 56 kg category was received a fine reception from Thongju Local Development Society (LDS) as she landed here in Imphal today.
Beauly is a daughter of Sukham Sanjit and Sukham Ongbi Aruni of Thongju Part II. Congratulating Beauly on her achievement, LDS president Mayengbam Hemchandra also assured to extend all possible support from the local body towards her sporting career.
In the championship two students of  Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Langol under Machi block, Tengnoupal district-  L Teshamran Dangshawa (sub-jr girls 44 kg) of Waksu village and Makunga Lydia (junior girls 48 kg) from Minou village also won gold and a silver medal respectively.
Both the players were accorded a warm reception by the  school authority today upon their arrival and congratulated the entire State team for the big accomplishment. Mention may be made that L Teshamran Dangshawa is a classh IX student and Makunga Lydia is a class X student of KGBV, Langol.
Elsewhere at Tekcham, Ningsing Lup Tekcham extended a warm reception to 11 players of the area who returned home with 3 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze medals from the same championship. Upon their arrival, the players were garlanded by sports enthusiasts and family members who were waiting for the players at Tekcham Laibung. They were then welcomed and feted by Ningsing Lup Tekcham with simple presents at the same venue after having received the players at Imphal International airport.
It may be noted that, Maibam Kundan M Kundan (kids -31 kg), M Genison amasung L Chingkhei (-42 kg junior boys) from Tekchom won gold medals at the championship as Lamnganba (kids -18 kg ) and L Dinaraj (sub-jr boys -32 kg) won silver medals. In the meantime, L Chingkheinganba (sub-junior boys +56 kg), M  Dhakeshor (sub-junior boys -52 kg), N Sangkar, N Raju (kids : -24 kg), S Manisana (senior boys' -58 kg) and S Messi (sub-junior boys-28 kg) won bronze medals.
The reception cum felicitation programme was attended by Langathel Zilla Parishad Member, Soibam (o) Ibetombi Devi; Tekcham Gram Panchayat's Pradhan L Iboyaima Singh; social worker L Giridhon; Ward Member M Tiken Singh Ningsing Lup Tekcham's president W Chand Singh as presidium members who also feted and encouraged the players with simple presents.
