3rd Married Men Football Tournament kicks off in Maram

The 3rd Edition of Married Men Tournament with the theme ‘All for One’ was kicked off yesterday at N Raisong Ground, Maram Bazar some 25 Km from Senapati District H/Q. The final will be played on October 6.
Pungdi P Celestine, general secretary of Maram Union said, the 3rd edition assumed much significance as the tournament was being held in honour and memory of martyr P Nogi Rangnamei, who was a social worker as well as Naga National Officer.
The 3rd edition was jointly organized by Maram Bazar Youths’ & Students’ Organization (MBYSO) in partnership with Maram Students’ Organization (MKS), Northern Maram Students’ & Youths’ Organization (NMSYO) and Maram Thangal Region.
A memorial stone of P Nogi Rangnamei was unveiled at Maram Union Secretariat Complex, Senapati in the morning by Karaibo Chawang, Member Collective Leadership, NSCN/GPRN.
Talu Dominic shared that Nogi Rangnamei was not only a committed national worker in his 31 years of service but he was also a true socialist activist,  stating that Marahangshii, a Cultural group that revives and promotes the old Maram traditional practices was co-founded by him along with Khamba Maram.
Speaking at the gathering, Karaibo Chawang, who is also a member of NSCN-IM peace talk delegation with the Government of India, highlighted the progress of the latest talk - 21, 22, 23 September in Delhi with the Government of India. Recalling back, the declaration of the unique History of the Nagas by (late) PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee way back on September 28,  2003, Karaibo Chawang reiterated for Indo-Naga peace talk to progress and move forward,  the talk shall be based on Unique History and Political rights of the Nagas and reminded Government of India not to misinterpret it.
Congratulating the organizers, he said organising the Football event in memory of Naga National Worker is a gesture for the love of Naga Nation and when solution comes, Naga as a Nation, will participate at International Games, waving the Naga Flag, he added. Further, he said, Nagas are bestowed with talents and recalled back Dr T Ao, who was best known as the first football captain of Indian National Team.
Functional president, K Raisong, president of Maram Union pointed out that in recognition of his immense sacrifice, P Nogi Rangnamei was declared as the 'Martyr' among the Maram people by Maram Union.
After the oath Ceremony of the participating 22 teams by MBYSO Games & Sports Secretary,  a one minute public  silence was observed in remembrance of the departed Soul.
Prominent leaders of the area including former Minister Ngajokpa; former Manipur Deputy Speaker , K Raina; former ADC Members ; different CSOs- NMPO, MKS, NMSYO, NMWO, Women Union, Church Catechists, Pastors, Chairmen,  Headmen, GBs, ranks & files of National workers and public in huge nos attended the inaugural function.
