38th State Polo : X-Polo Club beat Major Karan PC to retain title

IMPHAL, Jan 29 : Defending champions X-Polo Club successfully defended their title in the 38th Men's State Level Polo Tournament by beating Major Karan Polo Club 10-5 in the final today at Mapal Kangjeibung.
Th Jacob starred in the match scoring four goals alone while teammates- L Atangba, P Ojit and L Kokeshwor chipped in two goals apiece.
With L Atangba scoring his two goals, X-Polo Club took a 2-0 first chukker lead before P Ojit added one and Th Jacob scored his first two goals to make it 5-0 at halfway break. The third chukker saw Major Karan Polo Club pulling back four goals courtesy a double from Th Santosh Singh and a goal each from L Thomson and O Rozer against a goal by L Kokeshwar for X-Polo Club to make it 4-6.
X-Polo Club however resurged in the final chukker and pumped in four goals , twice by Th Jacob and a goal each from Ojit and Kokeshwar to set up the 10-5 win as Th Santosh scored one for Major Karan Polo Club.
Eventually X-Polo Club walked away Rs 50,000 richer along with the title trophy while runners up Major Karan Polo Club had to content with Rs 40,000 cash prize.
