Veteran T-20 Cricket : YWC-L, CHAMP open winning account

IMPHAL, Jan 29 : YWC-Langthabal and CHAMP-Khagempalli kicked off their Group A campaign in the 10th Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament on winning notes at Luker ground.
In the Group A opener, CYCLONE slumped to a 21 run loss to YWC-L after winning the toss and choosing the field first.
Put in to bat first, YWC-L who were a man short rode in Samananda's brisk 57 off 37 balls to post a total of 110 runs for 9 in 19.1 overs but managed to hold CYCLONE to 89 runs for 9 in 20 overs for the win. In YWC-L's innings, Priyokumar enjoyed a three wicket haul as Sashi and Ashokumar picked two wickets each.
In the chase, Tombi was the highest scorer with an unbeaten 29 off 36 deliveries. Lamnganba of YWC-L picked up 4 wickets to apply break to the chase.
YWC-L's Samananda who scored a half century and claimed a wicket was adjudged man of the match.
Later in the day, CHAMP gave YCC a target of 156 runs losing just three wickets after electing to bat first and bowled out YCC for 129 runs. Robinson struck a 62-ball 71 for CHAMP as his teammate Arijit added 33 runs in their innings which saw Shantikumar of YCC pick up two wickets for 25 runs. Tomthang (4/18) and Narjit (3/12) then devastated the YCC chase and held their opponents at 129 runs. Shantikumar (21) and Bishorjit (22) were the only notable batters for YCC in the chase.
