We have seen a new career choice amongst students. When I ask about dream professions and career choice amongst school or college students then one word which could be heard is YouTuber. We are aware that one of the popular activities in the digital world is making videos and reels and sharing with others for more views. There was a time when recording of videos was costly as many could not afford to buy video cameras. Easy access to the internet and digital gadgets have made it possible for most of us to shoot and record and upload or share through various media like social media and others. Some may do it for passion but the best part is that one may choose it to be a career option for which one needs to understand more and explore the field.
The best thing is that there is no higher academic qualification which means any one may become a successful person using YouTube if they research and plan and brand well.
YouTube is certainly seductive as a career. Access to a global audience and the alternative of pursuing one’s interests with creativity brings more opportunity no matter whether we are a writer, producer, entertainer or director, YouTube gives us the choice of following our own passion, unleashing our creativity.
People online are searching for relevant, entertaining, educating and inspiring information. As long as we can create content that our audience finds inspiring, informative, powerful and motivating, we can enjoy a YouTube career without needing any formal academic qualification. YouTube is a global online video sharing and social media platform headquartered in San Bruno, California.
It was launched on February 14, 2005, by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim. It is owned by Google, and is the second most visited website, after Google Search.
Though it seems easy, to be successful one needs to plan well. Before making any videos or digital content to be shared through YouTube one must do good research and find out what kind of videos might be interesting for viewers. Having a strong digital presence is also important because it is not only about making video but at the same time the branding and reaching out to the audience is equally important.
The older or higher earning channels will usually get better rates than someone who just joined YouTube recently so one must have patience to be successful as a YouTuber. Because of how much their content is viewed by people all over the world, the channel will be able to earn more in ad revenue as its viewership grows over time.
One may be able to earn money on YouTube by selling merchandise or physical products. After making the video or content and uploading in YouTube one must plan to reach out to more audiences as more audiences means more earning.
One must be innovative and creative and think out of the box if s/he wants to be successful as a YouTuber. Good content research and video editing skills are also needed to make more impact.
One must remember that there is much competition in this field and hence if we are not planned well then someone else would be ahead of us. One can also make a positive impact in society through videos which are related to social issues.
It can be one of the tools for social change too.
