IMPHAL, Jan 30 : Manipur are trailing behind Assam by 289 runs after posting 165 runs for 6 in 67 overs of the first innings on Day 2 of a Col CK Nayudu Trophy 2022-23 match at Tinsukia District Sports Association Ground.
Assam who carried forward their innings from yesterday at 339 for 3 wickets after 90 overs and were all out for 454 runs today after 112.2 overs as Kiran Laishram  and Santosh Kh scalped four wickets each to set up the collapse within 22.2 overs today.
Sahil Jain who was unbeaten on 77 at Stumps yesterday, was bowled out by Bidash in the first over today before adding any runs before Rituraj Biswas (29) and Amlanjyoti Das (46) kept the runs flowing for a while and helped Assam add 115 runs to yesterday's total to make it 454 at the end of the innings.
Kiran Laishram returned with the best bowling figures of 4/115 runs in 33 overs as Santosh finished with 4/80 in 22.2 overs. Kiran Laishram's scalp include Rituraj Biswas (29) and Amlanjyoti Das (46).
Manipur, who are yet to open their account in the Group C competition of the U-25 First Class tournament this season, had a stuttering start and slumped to 23/2 losing Suresh on 6-ball duck and Santosh Kh for 14 to Dipjyoti Saikia within 5.4 overs.
Al Bashid who came in for Suresh Singh also saw Ng Jameson (15) and Rakesh A (1) depart cheaply before forging a slow but commendable 89 run partnership off 228 deliveries with Th Anand for the fifth wicket.
The partnership was broken with Abdul Ajij Kuraishi removing Al Bashid for 91 runs in the 62nd over.
Manipur lost Jay Singh on 3 for the 6th wicket and Th Anand (37) and Kiran Laishram (0) were unbeaten at Stumps after 67 overs.
