S Khomunnom YC lift TAYA annual sports meet men's football title

KANGPOKPI, Jan 30 : The 45th Tujang Area Youth Association (TAYA) annual sports meet ended in style as S Khomunnom Youth emerged champions in the main football after defeating the defending champions Cananphai Youth Club in the final match.
The closing ceremony was graced by former ADC Sadar Hills member, Lamminthang Kipgen as chief guest on behalf of Minister for Textiles, Commerce and Industry and Cooperation, Nemcha Kipgen, who could not attend the event owing to an official meeting.
While Milan Pradhan, former ADC Sadar Hills' member attended the event as a guest of honour; Keithelmanbi Village Authority chairman, Lhunkhomang Mangjel as functional president and OC Gamnom Saparmeina Police Station, Inspector Lutminthang Kipgen as a special guest.
In the under-13 football, K Sajal Kids Club won the title while Gamnomphai Kids Club finished runners-up.
In men's volleyball, K Munnomjang Youth Club bagged the champions title and K Sajal Youth Club bagged the runners-up as Saikotjang Youth Club bagged the women's volleyball champions title beating Gamnomphai Youth Club in the final.
In the senior men's final, S Khomunnom Youth Club found the opener through Thangsohang in the 17th minute but the lead was cancelled by Cananphai Youth Club through Lalgoumin in the 50th minute.
As neither team managed to find the winner during regulation time, the game was decided via penalty shoot-out where in S Khomunnom Youth Club won the match with an aggregate 6-5 margin to lift the champions trophy.
Individual prize winners in senior football include Thangsongin of S Khomunnom YC (Best Defender), Thanggoumang of S Khomunnom YC (Best Keeper), Manglun Kipgen of Saikotjang YC (Best Midfielder), Lamgunlal Kipgen of P Khothah Part-II (Best Striker), Laljalen Singson of Cananphai YC (Top Scorer, and man of the tournament), Nehgin Touthang of Gamnnomphai YC (Hattrick) and Seilenchung Khongsai of Ngahmun YC (Emerging player).
In under-13 football, Hangminthang of K Sajal Kids Club was awarded the best player award while in women's volleyball, Lhinghoiching of Saikotjang YC and Hatneineng Kipgen of Molsang YC emerged best spiker and best setter.
Jangmol Youth Club were awarded for the most fans during the tournament while Demmang Kipgen of Saikotjang village was named fan of the tournament.
