YWC-P, CDCC secure victories in MNCA Plate Tournament

IMPHAL, Nov 28 : YWC-Patsoi and CDCC-Sagolband emerged victorious in today's Group A matches of the ongoing 8th MNCA Plate Tournament.
YWC-P earned a 23 run victory over SDC-Laipham Khunou at Lairenjam Public Ground thanks to Nickel who led the bowling attack to defend their competitive total of 227/8 in allotted 35 overs.
YWC elected to bat first and piled up the total thanks to significant contributions from Jagat 44, Thoungamba 34, Kishan 34 and Ajit 22 not out. The innings saw Subashchandra of SDC claiming three wickets while James and Ziad picked two wickets apiece.
In reply, Rahis scored a 65-ball 5 and Subashchandra added a 64-ball 58 but their efforts went in vain as they were bundled out for 204 runs in 34.2 overs. YWC-P's Nickel returned with best figures of 4/41 in 7 overs and Thoungamba finished with 2/26 in 6.2 overs.
Nickel was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, CDCC notched up a 5-wicket win over SSU-Singjamei Kakwa courtesy Jodiba's 6 wicket haul (6/37 in 7 overs).
SSU opted to bat first but slumped to a lowly total of 147 runs for 9 wickets as Jodiba, FM Sharif (2/27 in 7 overs) and K Robert (1/16 in 7 overs) bowled too well.
In the chase, T Rakesh 28, N Priyojit 18, Monish Meitei 21 and Jodiba 20 provided earlier thrust before Ataur 30 and Viking Salam 11 cruised to winning 150/5 in 23 overs.
Jodiba was eventually declared man of the match.
