Stage set for semi-finals of 8th MNCA Plate Tournament

IMPHAL, Nov 29 : Group A winners CDCC-Sagolband will play Group B runners OSCAR-Uripok Tourangbam Leikai while Group B winners IBSA-Yumnam Leikai will face Group A runners PSC-Khoyathong in the semi-finals of the 8th MNCA Plate Tournament on December 1. The final will take place on December 4 at Moijing Public Ground.
The group stage of the 17 team competition concluded with KCDO-Kongpal registering their fourth win today by thrashing SU-Sagolband by 106 runs at Lairenjam Public Ground.
SU opted to field first but could contain KCDO batters who racked up 242 runs for 8 in allotted 35 overs. KCDO then bowled out SU for 136 runs in 30.2 overs to finish fourth with 10 points from 8 matches behind CDCC (13 points), PSC (12 points) and NCA (11 points) in Group A standings.
Azizur (50-ball 69) and Lucky (25-ball 62) smacked half centuries for KCDO after Umar 32 and Bikram 32 laid the foundation of the innings which saw Herojit (2/32), Thoithoiba (2/20) and Naoton (2/30) of SU claiming two wickets.
In reply, T Herojit scored 80-ball 46 but his lone effort could not help SU much and they eventually stumbled to 136 all out as Devendro picked returned with the best bowling figures of 3/15 in 6.2 overs and Lucky (2/25), Abdul (2/37) and Ziaur (2/25) shared picked two scalps each.
Lucky of KCDO who starred with a quickfire 62 and claimed two wickets was adjudged man of the match.
With the result SU finished seventh among 9 teams with 6 points.
