IMPHAL, Jan 31 : Manipur slumped to fourth straight loss in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy 2022-23 going down by an innings and 80-run loss to Assam at Tinsukia District Sports Association Ground, Assam on the third day of the match today.
Hosts Assam had posted a huge total of 454 runs in their first innings and restricted Manipur to a total of 374 runs in two innings after being let to follow on by bowling out Manipur for 175 runs in the first innings.
Assam racked up the massive first innings total of 454 runs thanks to a century from Parvej Musaraf (131), half centuries from Erik Roy (60) and Sahil Jain (77) and sensible knocks from Nibir Deka (44) and Amlanjyoti Das (46).
The innings saw Kiran Laishram (4/115) and Santosh Kh (4/80) enjoying four wickets each.
Manipur who were 165 runs for 6 in 67 overs at Stumps yesterday ended their first innings adding just 10 runs in 4.4 overs today. Al Bashid (91) and Th Anand (41) were the notable batters for Manipur in this innings which witnessed Abdul Ajij Kuraisi grabbing a bundle of 5 wickets and Dipjyoti Saikia and Amlanjyoti Das enjoying two wickets each.
Let to follow on, Manipur were bundled out for 199 in 79.4 overs despite Ng Jameson's fight 69-ball 50. Bidash (36), Al Bashid (20), Rakesh A (25) and Santosh Kh (19) also secured double digit scores as Kunal Sharma picked five for 58 runs and Amlanjyoti Das claimed three wickets.
Manipur will play Uttar Pradesh in the next match from February 5 at Gujarat College Cricket Ground A, Ahmedabad.
