The Wrath of God

Far from this waterlogged village
In the middle of the man-made lake
The belfry steeple stood, emerged
Pointing high up into the clouds.
It seems to narrate an untold story
Of the village, submerged under water.
God made the village
But man made it forbidden,
What man has made of man!
For if God did not spare man
For he sinned against the cathedral.
The wrath of the village God
Like a surge of powerful storm
Took the lives of the innocents,
The gong of the submerged cathedral
And the flash of the steeple warned
More lives to take, more to drag.
Benign and benevolent Mother Nature is,
If we compassionate her though a little.
This is what man has to learn
And this is what the belfry steeple tells.
