Sports policy needs revision, says YAS Minister

IMPHAL, Feb 1, Feb 1 : Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Govindas Konthoujam has stated that more provisions will be added in the State Sports Policy, after revision, to give benefits to people with disabilities.
The Minister made the remark while attending the handing over ceremony of Indus Towers Scholarship to students with disabilities held at the conference hall of Spastic Society of Manipur at Tapokpi Bazar at Langthabal Kunja, today.
At the function, Govindas continued that the State Sports Policy needs revision as it has not been done so for a prolonged period.
Saying that provisions will be added in the State Sports Policy in its revision to promote the interest of people with disabilities, the Minister said that he will also consult with Langthabal AC MLA Karam to build an indoor stadium for people with disabilities at Langthabal.
During  the function, scholarships were given to 31 students by the Works Minister and Karam Shyam.
The function was organized by the Spastic Society of Manipur and Shishu Sarothi, Guwahati for the Indus Towers Scholarship Program (Formerly Bharti Infratel) for the Academic Session 2022 -2023.
This year 31 students with disabilities were awarded the Scholarship and four scholars from previous year were given  laptops as an additional support .
Moreover, seven former scholars who excelled in their career were felicitated.
The scholarship program is a CSR initiative of Indus Towers implemented across the North-East in association with Shishu Sarothi and other State partners.
