IMPHAL, Feb 1 : The Congress party has asked why the State Government is not taking up any concrete action to trace and find the VDF personnel who went missing during taking part in the poppy destruction drive of the Government along Indo-Myanmar border areas.
Speaking to media persons at the Congress Bhavan today, MPCC vice president L Tilotama said that the VDF personnel Ningombam Premananda Singh of Thoubal Okram Maning Leikai has been missing for over 10 days.
She also said that the Government not taking the  missing of a man in uniform seriously is unfortunate.
Further asking why the Government is not able to trace N Premananda who went missing whilst on duty till date,  the Congress leader asked what steps the Government has taken up to find the VDF personnel.
"Who must take responsibility for the missing security personnel or was it done deliberately to demoralise the field workers of the War on Drugs campaign," she questioned.
"If the administrative set up of the State is indeed becoming better as claimed by the Government then such issues must be solved without taking much time," she continued.
The Congress leader went on to ask whether the State Government is not searching for the missing security personnel in fear of some powerful individuals.
Stating that the War on Drugs is an ambitious campaign and it has the support of the Congress party, L Tilotama asked the State Government to look for the missing VDF man extensively and hand him over to his family.
She also prayed for his safe return.
