1st Winter Games : Ukhrul sweep athletic, archery medals

IMP/Ukl, Feb 1 : Hosts Ukhrul are sweeping medals in Athletics and Archery as the 1st Ukhrul-Kamjong Winter Games-2023 entered its third day.
Ukhrul were able to win gold medals in all the athletic events of the games which will continue till 4 of this month. Ukhrul's Chengrei-wung won the 100 m race for men with a time of 12.13 seconds as Pemyami Zimik AS won the women's competition by taking 15.61 seconds.
Chengreiwung also claimed the shot-put title with a 11.63 m throw as Salem Keishing recorded 6.60 m for the women's gold.
In the long jump event, Chingreiwung AS fetched his third gold medal with a 5.90 m jump while Penyami Zimik added another gold medal to her name registering a 4.04 m mark.
Mashanthing Zengkai of Ukhrul claimed the men's javelin throw gold recording 34.67 m as Salem Keishing claimed her second gold with a 20.99 m throw.
In the high jump for men, Mahongam Keishing and Chingreiwung AS both from Ukhrul lept identical 1.65 m to share the gold medal podium as Lummi finished second with 1.60 m leap. KA Soton and Mayoshin KYS also shared the women's high jump gold medal with a 1.25 m leap.
Ngachanso Ngalung earned the men's 200 m race gold medal with a time of 26.31 seconds as Sochong Mahung claimed the women's 200 m race gold taking 33.85 seconds.
In the triple jump competition, Chingreiwung AS and KA Soton sealed the gold medals by posting 11.33 m and 8.55 m jumps respectively.
In the men's 4x100 m relay event, Ukhrul's Ngach- anso Ngalung, Leiyaso Raising, Chingreiwung AS and A Ngamrichung took the gold with a time of 54.69 seconds as Kamjong team of Chihansung Ragui, Wungnaopam Siro, Tomyaomi Chillung and Warngayar Siro took 56.77 seconds to settle for silver medal. In the women's 4x100 relay event, Pemyami Zimik, Mayoshim KYS, Wungaowon KKS and Tharchui managed the gold with a time of 1:09.32.
Ngachanso Ngalung, Leiyaso Raising, Chingreiwung AS and A Ngamrichung also won the 4x400 relay race with a time of 4:25.74 as Pemyami Zimik, Mayoshim KYS, Wungaowon KKS and Tharchui claimed the women's gold with a time of  5.53.99.
Meanwhile, Ukhrul District Archery Association won 3 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze medals in Archery as Kamjong bagged 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. The competition were conducted for two categories-Under-18 and Under-13 for both boys and girls.
Speaking at the sidelines, president of Ukhrul District Archery Association ( UDAA) Mayarnam A' Shimray said the archery competition was conducted at AR Wino ground under the supervision of the State archery association. He also thanked Gitanjali Laishram, archery coach YAS, Imphal for her special guidance.
