Textiles Minister motivates Keithelmanbi youth for healthier future

KANGPOKPI, Feb 1: Gracing the closing ceremony of the 20th Keithelmanbi Ward Wise Sports 2023 as chief guest, Minister for Textiles, Commerce and Industry, and Cooperation, Nemcha Kipgen, who is also the local MLA motivated youth to eat healthy food for a healthier society and future.
The Minister said Manipur is a blessed State with various important and unique cultures and also in all aspects including tourism. She also added that the youth of Manipur have a vital role to sustain the beauty and richness of the State in all aspects.
"Manipur has occupied space in all disciplines of games and sports at the National and international levels and it's time we encourage education and sports among the youths who are the future hope of the society", she said.
"Let us not let drugs rule us, we must overcome and eliminate the menacing drugs in the State to bring a healthier and brighter Manipur for which the role of the youth is very much vital", the Minister added.
"We need to nib the culture of poppy cultivation and for that matter, the youth need to be active torchbearers in the Government's War on Drugs campaign", she asserted.
Minister Nemcha urged the Church leaders and the village authority, youth and women's society of Keithelmanbi Military Colony to organize a mega Youth Camp, and if required, women and men's camp as well and conveyed her willingness to sponsor such camps to create awareness on drugs and save the society from the menacing drugs.
The closing ceremony was also attended by Saitu AC MLA, Haokholet Kipgen as guest of honour and DC Kangpokpi, Kengoo Zuringla as functional president while SP Kangpokpi, Th Vikramjit Singh attended as a distinguished guest.
In U-14 boys football, Ward No 2 emerged champions and Ward No 7 bagged the runners-up while in women's football, Ward No 9 emerged champions and Ward No 4 as runners-up.
In men's volleyball, Ward No 8 emerged champions and Ward No 6 finished runners-up. Ward No 9 in the meantime bagged the champions title and Ward No 1 bagged the runners-up.
In the men's football category B, Ward No 1 beat Ward No 6 while in the men's football category A final match, Ward No 5 beat Ward No 6.
