Suzuki sees potential in State's gymnasts

IMPHAL, Feb 2 : In a welcoming initiative, Suzuki, a Japanese multinational corporation is   imbibing the sporting spirit by sponsoring gymnasts and a coach from Manipur in the recent Suzuki World Cup 2022 and the company is expecting improved performances from the State's athletes in the future.
The Japanese company sponsored gymnasts Anjori Pangambam and Ariha Pangambam and Coach Yumnam Ranjan in the recent Suzuki World Cup 2022 held from  December 12 to 15 last at Tokyo. They got the sponsorship through the intervention of International Aerobic Federation (IAF) president Kazi Tanaka.
Notably, Anjori Pangambam bagged a bronze medal in the 7th Asian Aerobic Gymnastic Championships held in Thailand in September last year while Ariha Pangambam finished fourth in the championships.
Based on their performance in the championships, Suzuki Company opted to sponsor the two gymnasts and the Coach in the Suzuki World Cup.
Both Anjori (6th position in senior individual) and Ariha (7th position in junior individual) won medals in the world cup.
On seeing the performances and potential in the two gymnasts, Kazi Tanaka and Suzuki Company have earlier expressed their desire to build a good relationship with the athletes from Manipur and extend more assistance.
Rajesh Prasad from Telipati (working in Japan) also extended help to the two gymnasts and the Coach from Manipur during their stay in Japan  by taking them to the Indian Embassy there.
