YWC, CYCLONE prevail in veteran cricket

IMPHAL, Feb 2 : YWC Langthabal and CYCLONE Thangmeiband emerged victorious in today's matches of the 10th Manipur Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament underway at Luker Ground.
While YWC beat UCC Uripok by 36 runs in the first match, CYCLONE registered  a comfortable 5 wickets win over YPHU Lalambung in the second.
In the first match, YWC which chose to bat first set a target of 137 with four wickets down in the 20 over match. In the innings G Gojendra struck maximum runs (40 runs off 45 balls), followed by L Manaobi  (37 runs off 36 balls), S Kumarjit (26 runs off 14 balls) and N Umakanta (6 runs off 9 balls).
In the second innings, the Langthabal side displayed better performances as they bundled out UCC for 101 in 17.5 overs and took home the win.
L Tejkumar of YWC took three wickets.
The highest run scorer of the losing side was T Rajesh who knocked  22 runs off 18 balls.
The second match saw CYCLONE Thangmeiband beating YPHU Lalambung by five wickets.
YPHU opted to bat first and made a total of 105 runs in 19.4 overs while CYCLONE chased the target in 15.5 overs with five wickets remaining.
Ph Robindro of the Thangmeiband side bowled some fine deliveries and dismissed four wickets while his team-mate S Tiken fell three wickets.
In the chase,  Ksh Bikram knocked 41 runs off 35 deliveries and he  was the highest scorer of CYCLONE.
