IMPHAL, Feb 2 : Maibam Nabakishore Singh has been selected for the prestigious 14th Manipur State Award for Literature, 2022 for his book "Thamoigi Mari", a collection of short stories published in 2017.
A press release issued by Dr N Gopendro Singh, Language Officer, Directorate of Language Planning & Implementation stated that the award consists of a plaque, citation, shawl and a cash prize of Rs 3,00,000.
Maibam Nabakishore Singh, who hails from Hiyanglam in Kakching district, is one of the most noted contemporary fiction and script writers of Manipur. He is also the recipient of several literary awards including Sahitya Akademi Award, New Delhi (2005).
According to the release, the award has been sponsored by the Government of Manipur since 2008 to honour Manipuri writers for their contributions to Manipuri literature.
Notably, Maibam Nabakishore Singh was selected for the award by a board of eminent persons set up by the Government.
