Athokpam Lala condoled

Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India; Heirok Local Council, CPI and Kshetrigao Local Council, CPI have condoled the passing of Athokpam Lala on Monday, January 31 due to an illness. He was 78.
A statement issued by MSC/CPI has stated that a condolence meeting was held at the office of Imphal East/CPI office located at Khurai Thongam Leikai today to mourn the demise of Athokpam Lala who also served as the State treasurer of MSC/CPI.
Former MSC/CPI secretary L Sotinkumar presided over the condolence meeting wherein a 2-minute silence was observed in honour of the departed soul.
Heirok Local Council, CPI also organised a condolence meeting at the residence of CPI member M Shyamkumar today. The gathering observed a 2-minute silence to pray for the deceased.
In a statement, Kshetrigao Local Council, CPI shared that a condolence meeting was organized at the residence of the deceased yesterday presided over by Kh Merajao.
The gathering recalled the contributions and achievements of Athokpam Lala during the meeting. Notably, he contested election many times on a CPI ticket from Kshetrigao AC and served as the Pradhan of Top Dusara in 1985. He served as the chairman as well as advisor of All Manipur Panchayat Parishad. He  played a vital role in the effort for delineation of Imphal East district from the district of Imphal. Aside from this, he was a prominent leader in the movement of 1991 calling for the establishment of Manipur Zilla Parishad to develop the Panchayat system.
The gathering observed a minute of silence and also shared in the grief of the bereaved family.
