Search party starts work to trace missing VDF man

THOUBAL, Feb 2 : Around 130 police personnel have been dispatched to Phaisi village in Chandel district to trace missing VDF personnel, Ningombam Premananda.
The security personnel dispatched today consist of personnel of both Thoubal district police and Chandel police.
The 130 personnel will be camping for at least 5 days at Phaisi village where N Premananda went missing on January 21.
He was participating in a poppy destruction drive carried out at the village from January 16.
Notably, the 130 personnel were deployed after the Joint Action Committee formed in connection with the missing case reached an agreement with the Government yesterday.
The JAC along with the people of Thoubal Okram had imposed a bandh along the Imphal-Moreh road before the agreement was reached yesterday.
Significantly, the 130 personnel include 70 of Thoubal police being led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Ops) Wangkhomba Okramcha. The team left for Phaisi in the morning from Thoubal Police Headquarters.
Chandel police personnel are being led by Additional SP (Ops) L Amarjit.
