IMPHAL, Mar 26 : CHAMP-Khagempalli notched up a 6-wicket win over CRAU riding on Sultan Karim's 6-wicket haul to boost their title clash hopes in the ongoing 7th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
Opting to bat first, CRAU had a disastrous strat and collapsed within 35.2 overs with 129 runs on the scoreboard and  CHAMP just took 30.4 overs to ease to winning 133 for 4.
The result helped CHAMP remain strong at second on 17 points, 2 points ahead of third placed CYCLONE-Thangmeiband. Both the teams have a match to play.
Lamabam Jotin emerged the highest run getter for CRAU with 34 runs followed by Lamabam Ajay 23 and Dijen Singh 18 as Md Sultan Karim rattled the batting line up and returned with the best bowling figures of 6/21 in 7.2 overs which included a maiden.
Thingbaijam Nicholson also picked two wickets including the opener Sanatomba K for 1 in the fourth over.
In reply, CHAMP lost Narsingh to Joyhenba for 7 runs in the second over before Samir was bowled out for 12 runs by Lamabam Ajay for the second wicket at 45.
The team lost two more wickets in quick succession and were reduced to 53 for 4 in 18 overs before Nitesh Sedai (42 not out off 36 balls) and Moirangthem Thomas (33 off 48 balls) revived the chase and steered to winning 133.
It was Thomas hit Lamabam Ajay for a 4 to the deep cover to wrap up the chase with 6 wickets left to spare.
Md Sultan Karim of CHAMP who was prolific in his bowling today was adjudged man of the match.
