WYC hand CDCC third Group A loss in 2nd Superplate Tourney

IMPHAL, Mar 26 : WYC-Wangkhem eased to second Group A victory in the ongoing 2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament as they thumped CDCC-Sagolband Salam Leikai by 77 runs at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak.
It was also the third straight loss for CDCC in the tournament.
WYC, after electing to bat first, had a stuttering start and were bowled out for 244 runs in 36.2 overs despite middle order flourish. WYC then skittled out CDCC for 167 runs in 36.4 overs to seal the second victory in as many as three matches.
Coming in for the third wicket, Thokchom Momocha hit a half (59 off 51 balls) to resurrect the innings for WYC before Priyobarta Moirangthem (47 off 58 balls) and Laishram Rajesh  (30 off 26 balls) played sensibly.
The innings was however cut short with Asif claiming five wickets for 69 runs in 7.2 overs. Geerish Kangabam also fetched two wickets in this innings as Khurshid Alam and Mutum Jodiba managed a wicket each.
In reply, CDCC kept losing wickets in regular intervals and eventually slumped to 167 all out in 36.4 overs. Viking Salam topscored with 35 runs for CDCC while Ngangom Rajesh (22), Mutum Jodiba (19) followed suit.
Mangi Sharma Gurumayum of WYC led the bowling attack with a three wicket haul (3/22 in 8 overs) while Tayenjam  Tomba (2/31) and Laishram Rajesh (2/23) shared a wicket each to derail the CDCC chase. Wangkhem Laksmon, Thoudam Rohit and Thoudam Roshankumar were also able to pick up a wicket each in this innings.
Gurumayum Mangi was eventually adjudged man of the match.
