MNCA U-14 boys tourney beginsESU, PCC prevail on Day 1

IMPHAL, Mar 30 : ESU Wangkhei Palace Compound and PCC Mayai Koibi picked up wins as the 2nd MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament kicked off today.
While ESU beat PTRC Patsoi Part IV by two wickets in the opening match, PCC got the better of  SHADOW Thangmeiband by 15 runs in the following game.
ESU vs PTRC
Batting first, PTRC hit 182/6 in the 30 over match with nearly half of the total score coming from Ngambarel Naoshekpam who smashed 81 runs off 84 deliveries (run out) while his team-mate Laitonjam Jackson Singh scored 30 off 69 balls (run out).
At least five batsmen of PTRC got run out while  ESU's Soibam Venus Singh picked one wicket.
ESU completed the chase in 28.5 overs with two spare wickets as Soibam Venus knocked an impressive 70 runs off 71 balls and he was declared man of the match.
PCC vs SHADOW
The match saw PCC scoring 196/6 while SHADOW   got all-out for 181 in 28.4 overs.
Akshay Mahto Kumar showcased an exceptional batting class as he struck 105 runs off 82 balls with an impressive strike rate of 128.05. He won the man of the match title as he also took two wickets.
James Sahu and Sagatpam Lanchenba of the losing side took two wickets each in the first innings while their team-mate Arubam Goshan Singh fell one.
SHADOW was bundled out for 181 in 28.4 overs , losing the match by 15 runs.
James Sahu was the top scorer of SHADOW (78 runs).
The wicket takers of PCC were N Sunindro (3 wkts), Rojer Laishram (2 wkts), Chabungbam Paikhomba Singh (2 wkts) and Akshay Mahto Kumar (2 wkts).
