Cough syrup seized

IMPHAL, Mar 30: Altogether 921 bottles of cough syrup bottles labelled as DELT (containing codeine) were seized by a team of Imphal East district police from Lamphel Sanakeithel near AG Colony, Imphal West.
In the course of a search operation carried out by Imphal East district police at Lamphel Sanakeithel at around 1.40 pm yesterday, two illegal drug sellers identified as Md Riyajuddin (40) s/o late Md Joynun of Hatta Minuthong, Golapati and Shamurailatpam Rojina Devi (39) w/o late Gotimayum Priyokumar Sharma of Kakching Sumak Leikai, Ward No II, presently staying at Lamphel Sanakeithel were arrested from a medical store named Universal Pharma.
Altogether 921 bottles of cough syrup were seized from their possession and they reportedly disclosed that they have been in the business of selling illegal drugs to unauthorised customers for quite some time. Md Riyajuddin and Sh Rojina were later handed over to Lamphel police station along with the seized items.
