IJU, NPU sign MoU

IMPHAL, Mar 30: In order to tackle the common problems faced by journalists in India and Nepal collectively, a seven-point MoU has been signed between the Indian Journalists Union (IJU) and the Nepal Press Union (NPU).
The MoU was signed by IJU president Geetartha Pathak and NPU president Siva Lamsal at an event held today at Carnival Restro, Kathmandu.
A joint team of AMWJU, DIPR and EGM who are on a press tour to Nepal since March 25 were also accorded a warm reception by the NPU. Geetartha Pathak said that journalists in both India and Nepal have been facing a lot of problems and difficulties including threats to life. He then called upon the journalist fraternity of both India and Nepal to work collectively so that the freedom of press can be protected. Siva Lamsal also sought better cooperation between the journalists of India and Nepal.  
AMWJU president Wangkhemcha Shamjai and DIPR Deputy Director T Ramesh were also present at the event, among others.
