Protests demanding abrogation of SoO pact continue in many parts of State

IMPHAL, May 30 : The call for abrogation of SoO pact with the Kuki militants got louder with more local organisations joining in the chorus.
A sit-in was staged today at Yairipok Yambem in Imphal East under the aegis of Yambem Meira Paibi Lup and Yambem Apunba Committee.
The sit-in called for return for peace and normalcy at the earliest and demanded the State and the Central Government to withdraw from SoO pact with the Kuki militants.
The protestors also demanded implementation of NRC in the State and shouted slogans that the State's integrity should not be disturbed at any cost.
The sit-in was also attended by 280 persons from Laikhong, Keithelmanbi and Nongbram who were displaced owing to the communal crisi and are now taking shelter at Yambem High School.
Speaking on the sidelines, one Meira Paibi Premila said that innocent civilians are extremely disturbed and hurt by the ongoing crisis and urged the Union Home Minister who is one his three-day visit to the State to ensure immediate restoration of peace in the State.
President of Yambem Apunba Lup S Jugindro said that the State Government is well aware that illegal Kuki immigrants have their hands in the present crisis. As such the Government should implement NRC in the State to identify immigrants, he said.
The State Government should give a detailed and an impartial report to the Union Home Minister to help end the present restive situation at the earliest and paves way for the restoration of peace and tranquility.
Malom Apunba Development Organisation also organised a sit-in at Malom Bazar raising many demands including abrogation of SoO pact with Kuki militants.
Meira Paibi volunteers who attended the sit-in, raised their voice for preservation of State's integrity and demanded SoO pact with Kuki militants be withdrawn at the earliest, said the Malom Apunba Development Organisation in a statement.
Thangmeiband Polem Leikai womenfolks also staged a sit-in protest against the atrocities of Kuki militants.
They also demanded abrogation of SoO with Kuki militants and raised anti separate administration slogans.
