Medical Department Chandel condemns attack on ambulance, staff

CHANDEL, May 30 (DIO)
The Medical Department, Chandel has condemned the assault on ambulance drivers/staff and damage inflicted on two ambulance vehicles of the Department by a crowd at Kakching Lamkhai on May 29.
In view of the unfortunate and unwanted incident, the Chief Medical Officer, Chandel has shared that the an ambulance involved in this incident had been sent to JNIMS, Imphal to collect blood while equipped with the necessary curfew pass. It made the return journey with another ambulance which had been repaired at Imphal. They were stopped and checked at different locations.
On reaching Kakching Lamkhai, they were stopped once again and even after offering an explanation, the two ambulance were vandalized and the drivers/staff assaulted.
The Medical Department, Chandel has condemned the incident and appealed to all not to disturb or attack ambulances and medical staff who are on life saving services for the sick and needy.
