Public meet resolves to constitute "civilian defence force"

THOUBAL, May 30: A public meeting held at Tentha Multiplex Ground has passed a resolution to form "Tentha civilian defence force" to face the Kuki militants in the ongoing conflict.  
Notable personalities who attended the public meeting include Kh Priyojit, Member, Tentha Zilla Parishad and N Pradeep, Pradhan, Tentha Gram Panchayat as well as representatives of local clubs from Tentha along with the public.  
The people collectively resolved to form a civilian defence force comprising youths from the area between the ages of 18 to 40 years to deal with the Kuki militants if the Indian Government and the Manipur Government fail to undertake any concrete steps to restore peace and normalcy into the State by June 1. Further, another resolution was passed to urge the ex-servicemen from Tentha to provide training to this force and for the Government to equip them with adequate weapons.
In a bid to restore peace in the State, Peace and Solidarity Committee, Tentha was also constituted during the meeting.
The gathering also resolved to stand against the demand for separate administration and any force that threatens the integrity of Manipur.
