ESU mourns demise of W Ibotombi

IMPHAL, Sep 20 :  The Eastern Sports Union (ESU), Palace Compound, Imphal East has condoled the demise of its first general secretary and former reputed State hockey player Wangkheimayum Ibotombi on September 15.
ESU in a condolence note said that the demise of W Ibotombi from Wangkhei Angom Leikai (born on September 29, 1922) had left all in the Eastern Sporting Union in a sense of deep shock and a great loss. He had represented ESU in the Beighton Cup Hockey Tournament, the oldest tournament in the country. He took the mantle of the first general secretary of the Union when it was first formed in the 1940s with distinction, it said.
He had served the union and his locality in various capacities and was loved by all due to his charming personality, it said and shared the grief of his loss with the members of the bereaved family.
May his soul rest in peace in the heavenly abode, continued the general secretary of ESU in its condolence note.
