IMPHAL, Apr 12: Former Union Minister and former BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba has asserted that his son Th Basantakumar may get a Ministerial post if he is elected to Parliament in the ensuing election.
Speaking at an election rally held at the residence of BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president Oinam Lukhoi at Yumnam Huidrom Thiyam Leishangkhong on Thursday, Th Chaoba said, “Union Home Minister Amit Shah called me over phone and said that Basantakumar has been allotted BJP ticket after threadbare discussion among Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat and other party leaders with full confidence that he would emerge victorious.
“I requested Amit Shah to give a Ministerial post to Basantakumar if he is elected and Amit Shah assured that he would look into the matter positively”, Chaoba told the gathering.
He then appealed to the gathering to vote for his son and let him take the responsibility of restoring peace in Manipur.
Taking serious note of the declaration made by some people to boycott the ensuing election, Chaoba appealed to all concerned not to boycott the election.
He asserted that Narendra Modi would be sworn in as the country’s Prime Minister for the third consecutive term before his current term expires on June 6.
He also spoke on the several welfare schemes and development programmes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Let us elect the BJP in order to save Manipur and India. Vote for the BJP candidate who would solve the current crisis of Manipur in consultation with the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister”, Chaoba urged the gathering.
The people of Manipur need to appreciate the contributions of Chief Minister N Biren toward saving the indigenous people from the jaws of drugs and protecting forests, he said.
Speaking at the gathering, Th Basantakumar pledged that he would work both inside the Parliament and outside in line with the pulse and sentiment of the people.
He said that he would never act against the will of the people.
Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam said that the BJP candidate would get large shares of votes in all the 32 Assembly segments of Inner Manipur PC and win the election.
Basantakumar would get large chunks of votes in all the six Assembly segments located along Tiddim Road, he said.
Ex-Minister Oinam Lukhoi exuded confidence that the majority of the voters of Wangoi AC would vote for the BJP candidate.
