IMPHAL, Apr 14 : Upholding democratic principles, the INDIA Bloc has called for a free and fair Lok Sabha election which will commence on April 19.
Addressing the media at Congress Bhavan today, convenor of INDIA Bloc, Manipur Ksh Shanta claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister N Biren Singh have been engaging in excessive activities to secure their seats of power.
He recalled that a poll campaign of their common candidate in Inner Parliamentary seat Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam was disrupted at Moirang a couple  of days back.
Saying that INDIA, Bloc will never use  violence or distribute money to win the election, he appealed to all to cast their votes for the candidate they prefer without any fear.
This Lok Sabha election is very important to safeguard Manipur, he said and appealed to the Central and State forces as well as civil society organisations (CSOs) and meira paibi lups to be vigilant to ensure smooth conduct of the election.
State president of Shiv Sena (UBT) Toijam Debananda said that intimidating the two candidates of INDIA Bloc and their supporters in the run up to the Lok Sabha election is unwarranted. He claimed that a group of heavily armed miscreants came looking for him in an unregistered four-wheeler vehicle at his residence at Kyamgei.
Saying that he wasn't at his house at that time, Debananda claimed that the armed miscreants left a message for him to his family to not campaign for the INDIA Bloc candidates.
He appealed to the armed miscreants to come  and meet him in the daytime instead.
