THOUBAL, Apr 14 :  Restricting Meeteis in the eight Assembly Constituencies which fall in the Outer Parliamentary seat from contesting the Lok Sabha election is wrong, Kachui Timothy Zimik.
Timothy Zimik will contest the election in Outer Manipur Parliamentary seat on the NPF ticket  which is supported by BJP against three other candidates namely Congress's Alfred K Arthur,  Kho John (Independent) and Alyson Abonmai (Independent).
Addressing a function held at the residence of  Kakching AC MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar at Kakching Makha Lou Irum Ningthou Pareng today, Timothy Zimik said that the distribution of Lok Sabha seats in Manipur may increase after the delimitation exercise of 2026.
The NPF candidate assured that he will work at his level best to remove the eight Assembly Constituencies (ACs), the  people of which can only cast votes but not contest in the election, from the Outer Manipur (ST) seat so that they too can contest the Parliamentary election in another seat.
The meeting was organised by the National People's Party (NPP) Kakching unit.
Not giving the people of these eight Constituencies the right to contest the Lok Sabha election is a violation of their Constitutional right, he said and added that he will consult with the relevant authorities to transfer these eight ACs to the Inner seat so that they can contest the Parliamentary election.
He reiterated that the number of Lok Sabha seats in Manipur may increase after the 2026 delimitation exercise.
M Rameshwar, Phunygar AC Leishiyo Keishing and NPP, Kakching unit president Sh Shyamjai also attended the programme among others.
