Sangai Trophy : VSAI confirm quarter final slot

IMPHAL, Apr 23 : VSAI, Thangmeiband sealed their place in the 5th Sangai Trophy Veteran Football Championship quarterfinals with a 4-1 win over IEVSA, Khongman at CYLC ground, Pishum today.
Having won a match and drew once in their Group campaign (Group A), VSAI started strongly and raced to a 2-0 first half lead through goals from P Romesh (11') and N Rajesh (23').
The Khongman team who were reeling under pressure fought back and pulled back a goal through Y Tomcha (38') but their failed to carry forward their momentum in the face of relentless VSAI who retained their 2 goal advantage through S Manimohon in the 47th minute before N Rajesh further extended the margin with his second goal in the 69th minute.
VSAI eventually went home 4-1.
The other Group A match between KVFA and Langthabal FC was discontinued after 51 minutes of the play due to some technical issue.
It is learnt that the remaining part of the match will resume tomorrow at 1 pm.
