RK Meghen pays fitting homage

Thoubal, Apr 23 : Former rebel leader RK Meghen has paid his homage to the heroes of Khongjom Lan both known and unknown who died fighting to protect the sovereignty of Manipur on the occasion of Khongjom Day at Khongjom War Memorial Complex today.
RK Meghen led the volunteers of  Apunba Khorirolge Malemgee Lup in offering floral tributes to the heroes of Khongjom Lan at Kheba Ching today. They also offered tributes to the statue of Paona Brajabashi at the  Kheba foothill and offered tarpon at Khongjom River in honour of all those who laid down their lives during the historic Khongjom Lan.
Addressing the media on the sideline, RK Meghen said that he was delighted to be able to pay his obeisance to the heroes of Khongjom Lan.
Saying that "our ancestors' fought against the British in 1891 despite knowing that they can't win, RK Meghen continued that the courage shown by 'our ancestors' to safeguard the sovereignty of the erstwhile kingdom was admirable.
"Observance of Khongjom Day is a reminder that safeguarding Manipur is the duty of all of us", he added.  
Former Chief Engineer of PWD Nongmaithem Noren also attended the commemorative event among others.
