Border sealed 72 hours before polling day

Thoubal, Apr 23 : Tengnoupal DC cum ARO Krishna Kumar has said that the Indo-Myanmar border as well as inter-district boundary has been sealed 72 hours ahead of the 2nd phase of the Lok Sabha election scheduled on April 26.
Addressing a press briefing at the conference hall of Chandel DC today,  Krishna Kumar appealed to the voters in the district which will go to poll on April 26 along with other Assembly segments under Outer Parliamentary Constituency to exercise their franchise without any fear.
He also assured that all necessary measures and actions will be taken up to ensure peaceful conduct of the election to Outer Manipur seat in Tengnoupal.
Saying that there will be 78 polling stations in Tengnoupal, he added that four from among the 78 polling stations are specially arranged for Internally Displaced People and one for the specially abled people while two are model polling stations.
Saying that security personnel assigned for the election and polling officials for 40 polling stations in Tengnoupal will be flagged off tomorrow, the DC added that the remaining polling officials will be dispatched on April 25.
73 polling stations in the district will be manned by BSF while the State forces will oversee the security measures at the remaining five polling stations.
CCtv footage will be taken for the entire polling exercise, he said and added that additional measures will be taken up at critical and vulnerable areas. He appealed to all the voters in the district to take part in the democratic exercise without any fear.
