5th Sangai Trophy Veteran FootballLFC, MLVFA, KFC confirm quarterfinal slots

IMPHAL, Apr 24 : Langthabal FC (LFC), MLVFA-Mayai Lambi and Keishamthong FC confirmed their quarterfinal berths in the ongoing 5th Sangai Trophy Veteran Football Tournament organised by the United Veteran Football Association, Manipur at CYLC ground, Pishum.
In the last Group A match that was resumed today, Langthabal FC played out a 1-1 draw with KVFA, Kakching to finish Group A runners up and seal their quarter-final ticket.
KVFA were leading till the first half by a goal with Ksh Kanta finding the net in the 21st minute but the 36th minute strike from H Isowerchand had put the Langthabal side on level terms yesterday.
The two sides however failed to make the most of the chances they had during the remaining part of the game staged today to finish the game in a draw and share a point apiece.
Meanwhile, MLVFA, Mayai Lambi won 6-1 against AMBA FC to top Group B as Keishamthong FC (KFC) suffered a 1-2 loss to TBSFA to finish Group B runners.
TBSFA ended the 2-game winning streak of KFC and posted their only win in the tourament courtesy of goals coming from L Roki (41') and M Ronel (58') as L Them scored in between the goals for KFC in the 49th minute.
Despite the result, KFC finished group runners up courtesy of 6 points they registered earlier.
Meanwhile in the final Group B match, H Nepolean (18', 21', 34'P) hit a hattrick and N Lukhoi struck twice (55', 60') to inspire MLFVA the 6-1 victory and eventually helped the team finish group leaders. The other goal for MLVFA was scored by Y Priyo in the 35th minute as L Dhananjoy scored the consolation goal for AMBA FC in the 54th minute.
